Prayer Request
Well, someone must want me to stay home. Monday morning I started to feel bad and I have been in bed all day (or in the bathroom – take your pick). So, I am asking for prayer from the community – right now. I want to be on the plane to Israel on Wednesday. Please ask for my recovery.

Coming upon your Prayer Request right after the Cancun Sunrise, I thought for a moment you might have the Mexican “touristas,” but hope that’s not the case 🙂
BTW those blues and golds and greens and oranges in the picture of Padua are so incredibly beautiful that it’s hard to believe they are of this world!!!
They make me think of two great plays: Brecht’s The Life of Galileo and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Julliet.

Heavenly Father – nothing is impossible for you. You are sovereign over physical bodies. You are the God who brings people back from the dead, who makes withered arms straight. Give peace to Skip right now as he lays in bed. Help him fight for faith, to trust you, to rest in you. Take away all ‘what-iffing’ and anxiety. And by your grace, heal his body, so he can travel tomorrow.

We come together and agree that your servant, Skip, will be healed by Weds. so he can travel. We thank you, Lord, that he got this illness out of the way so he can enjoy his trip and not be sick while traveling.

But we ask, according to the privilege we have through prayer, that you will touch Skip and provide the healing needed at this time. We ask for your glory to be revealed, in the name of our most precious Savior, Healer and Redeemer, Jesus The Christ. Let it be!
Hi Skip…our prayers are with you. And on a practical note (not that prayers aren’t practical 🙂 :-), if you think you might have ingested one of the many micro organisms that can bring us gringos to our knees, I wanted to suggest a few remedies. Perhaps you’ve already been advised, but just in case…
1. Bactrim is a sulfa based anti biotic that you can get over the counter in Mexico. It will kill just about anything that is upsetting your intestines…usually within 24 hours you’ll start to feel considerably better.
2. Pepto Bismol is also amazing. An American doctor, who lived in Mexico, once told me that the Bismoth in it would actually be toxic to humans if we absorbed it. But we don’t. It just passes thru our intestines and fortunately the micro organisms DO absorb it and are killed. Most bad things (short of E Coli or Salmonella) will be killed of. You can drink an entire bottle in one day. 1/3, 1/3, & 1/3 throughout the day. Sounds nasty but John and I have both done it on occasion and it’s worked.
3. Thank you Lord that you have given us medicines to help heal our bodies.
